One of the Best Instructors

It’s a rare opportunity to learn from someone as knowledgeable in SAFe as Daniel. He is one of the best instructors I have had the pleasure to work with.

An Integral part of supporting our business

It is my pleasure to recommend Daniel Spencer as an Agile Coach. I have worked with Daniel throughout the majority of 2020, and within months watched him transition from a brand-new member of our team to an integral part of supporting our business. I know that his extensive skillset, depth and breadth of experience, and incredibly approachable personality will enable him to succeed in any of his future endeavors.

Not only did Daniel himself successfully integrate quickly with our team, but he also found a graceful way to connect a widely geographically dispersed team of 12 people leaders, in a Coronavirus-affected environment where all team members worked remotely. In this unusual situation, he guided us eloquently and tactfully, finding that perfect balance to allow our team to gel and collaborate in an organic fashion.

As an Agile Coach supporting Northrop Grumman with implementing agile in daily business, Daniel’s gentle disposition and positive attitude were greatly appreciated by the team and myself. He also skillfully exercised many facets of his leadership background – teaching, supporting one-on-one settings, and setting up tools to support our business. The combination of these extensive tactical abilities and soft leadership skills enable Daniel to connect with any team.

His direct and timely communication paired with unparalleled affability enable him to create a genuine and open atmosphere. Ultimately, he guided our team into a true transformation of the way we effectively manage our engineering business.

Outstanding resource

Daniel is an outstanding resource for any company looking to make the move to Agile development. He brings a wealth of knowledge and is very engaged in working with both leadership and dev teams to help transform a company into an Agile mindset. His work with our team really helped us get on solid ground and helped us move forward. Daniel’s background in programming really helps him jump into a new environment and make an immediate impact. He is a pleasure to deal with and I can honestly say we would not be as far along in our transformation if we had not brought Daniel on board.

Knowledgeable and practical

I was fortunate to have Daniel assigned to be the coach for my ART when I was the RTE. Although I had experience in Agile/Lean/Scrum, SAFe was new to me; Agile/Lean/Scrum/SAFe were new for most of the ART. Daniel was an excellent coach; he was knowledgeable, practical and able to explain the value of the agile and SAFe practices. His strong technical background enabled him to relate to the challenges that the teams were having, which enhanced his credibility with both the teams and leadership. I would not hesitate to engage Daniel as an agile coach and I credit much of my growth as an RTE to the guidance and support that Daniel provided.

Engaging and personable!

I had the pleasure of meeting Daniel as myself and colleagues from my company’s leadership team took the multiple day SAFE course back in November 2017. Daniel not only made the material very engaging but in addition was extremely personable and connected with everyone enrolled in the SAFE course. My colleagues enjoyed the experience and asked Daniel to be our agile coach for 2018 and part of 2019 as we embarked on our Agile Scrum journey which included training of both technical and business teams many of whom had never been exposed to Agile at all. What I appreciated the most about working with Daniel is that he’s not afraid to provide the straight answers in a polite, respectful but direct manner, even if unpopular with team members progressing along the agile transition. I attribute much of our success in our Agile transition to Daniel as his positive support and ability to tailor methods by business and technical function helped to accelerate our progress where we experienced positive results within the first 6 months such as shorter release cycles, actionable requirements and greater collaboration between the business and engineering teams.
